The Armory Bike Union is a grant funded bicycle recycling program that intends to cultivate an educated cycling community in Jackson.
According to the Fitness Council of Jackson’s website, the union “is a community bicycle shop with a variety of purposes and programs that are helping to create a vibrant bicycling culture in Jackson.” It exists to offer “workshops, classes, volunteer opportunities, space for the public to work on personal projects, and bicycle rentals.”
Roughly two hundred volunteers have already contributed time and effort in teaching bicycle maintenance, repair, mechanics and safe riding tips. Twenty core volunteers have also worked tirelessly to supplement the existing Jackson bicycle community with local bicycle preservation and participation advocacy.
One previous year, the union distributed nearly 200 bikes to students through the classes that they offer.
Many local police departments will contribute confiscated bikes, but the majority of bike donations come from kind people in the community who hear about the need for more which continues to grow.
A bike is a simple solution to low-cost transportation.
Every child deserves a bike.
It's very good to help others with the gift of transportation.
Volunteer to help repair bikes and see the fruit of your labors.

I lost everything, including my job. Now, with my bike, I can get around to job interviews and other errands. Thank you!!
